Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna

Once again three species of vultures in Kotel!

For the first time the supplementary feeding site was visited by a Black Vulture, tagged with a wingtag fitted in Dadia Nature Park, Greece. At present, there are more than 40 Griffon Vultures in the area of Kotel, some of them guests from Croatia, others marked in Israel. All they gather and feed at the supplementary feeding sites maintained by Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna/FWFF and Green Balkans within the Vultures Back to LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 Project. Since mid-April an adult Egyptian Vulture can be seen in the area, while on 28.05.2016 the team of Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna/FWFF noticed the presence of a Black Vulture for a fourth serial year. The guest is tagged with a white wing-tag number 92 and our colleagues from Dadia, Greece, confirmed, that such tag has been fitted on a bird hatched in Greece in 2015.
We would like to remind you that the Griffon Vultures we have been releasing successfully hatched chicks in the area of Kotel for the first time this year. The colony can proudly present a total of 6 babies! We will keep you posted!
